The christening of Prince Louis and christening gown ideas

The charming pictures were taken at Clarence House after the christening by Matt Holyoak. And Prince Louis was christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury in a private ceremony on the 9th of July.
Furthermore, Prince Louis’s baptism was held in the Chapel Royal, St. James’s Palace. In fact he is just a little less than three months old and in fifth place of the British succession. And his official name is Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge.

We love the colour scheme and Prince George with his big and cheeky grin. Princess Charlotte seems to adore her little brother and gives him all her attention.
Equally cute and an especially sweet detail: Princess Charlotte lovingly holds her little brother’s little hand.

And yet those more intimate images that show Duchess Kate in the garden are so full of love. She carries her little Louis in her arms and looks so happy. Prince Louis with his eyes wide open and his mama staring down at him. One to frame!

A little bit more about his gown:
The story behind the original dress starts in 1840, when Queen Victoria gave birth to the first of nine children with Prince Albert. The couple commissioned a garment for the occasion of the christening. A long, flowing gown inspired by the Monarch’s wedding dress using Spitalfields silk and Honiton lace. In total 62 babies were christened in that gown. Until the Queen deemed it too fragile and commissioned an exact replica of the Royal Christening Gown. It was made in 2008 by Angela Kelly.
Prince Louis was the sixth baby christened in the replica and it was worn by his siblings before.
