An enchanting nursery in grey and blush tones

Read Time:1 Minute, 35 Second

It’s such a privilege to create a child’s first room. The brief for this nursery was to create a soft and feminine room, based on grey with pale pink and blush tones.

I often use wallpaper in nurseries to give them focus, so I was super exited that my client was up for using a beautiful design from Sandberg’s Kubel Kids collection.

It’s quite a romantic, pretty design that fitted the brief well. Its grey background was a perfect match for the soft grey walls. The canopy above the cot picks up on the pink tones in the wallpaper and ties it all together.

You’ll notice that all the furniture is grey. I am a big fan of tonal schemes as it keeps the base calm and you can use more colour elsewhere.

It’s often more interesting to mix different styles than choosing everything from the same line, so in this case the cot is the odd one out. We chose one with timber bars to add a bit of warmth to the scheme. You can see how this is repeated throughout the room with wooden toys, baskets and other warm neutral accents.

The wardrobe and dresser are in Scandinavian style – pure and simple lines. The narrow, tall legs add a lightness to the room that I am really pleased with.

Finally, I had so much fun styling the display ledges in one of the alcoves. Placing wallpaper behind shelves is a little unexpected, but can make a beautiful feature. When the room evolves into a toddler room and beyond, these shelves will be great for the prettiest books and personal treasures.

I hope you enjoyed this nursery tour – more to come soon!

And pssst, talking about babies – check these cute jumpers for tiny people. Sweater weather is here to stay.
